{Through the Doorway}
Whatever your reasons for opening the door; it's too late to change your mind. One footstep in was all it took and you're arrived elsewhere. Your world shutting behind you in the sound of a click. Turning around reveals that door is gone.
Vanished.
More than that, you're not alone. There are others in the same dank and dingy room as you are. Looking just as confused. Wherever you came from, the place you've ended up in looks to be a disused jail cell. Stone walls. And some kind of mold or moss that has overgrown one of the corners. The bars that separate you from a dim passageway look half rusted and that door might not even be locked.
Maybe it would be better for you if it was though. Because a small scraping sound can be heard for those lucky enough to have keen ears. Whatever is making that sound is coming closer, drawn in by the new arrivals.
Scattered through the underground cells there are skeletons, very old and left in whatever place they fell. Some carried weapons, little good it did them. Finding the exit is not a problem either, but it's locked. A key would need to be found in order for escape to be possible, and hopefully found before you met the same fate as the unfortunate souls before you.

"Welcome," He found himself saying, a bit dryly, as he made slow steps to gain both distance and a better look at Steve. A short-sword was held low against his hip, ready to swing up at a moment's notice, but merely defensive for now. His voice had a tinge of a German accent, "Who are you?"
no subject
Steve takes in the stranger, not missing the short sword, or the distance that he puts between them. It's unclear if he's simply picked up one from the skeletons around or is some kind of jailer. He meets his eyes and gives him a small nod.
"And you are?"
no subject
Erik doesn't take his eyes off of the other man, though he does move toward the cell door. It's partially opened after he came in to avoid the light down the hallways and search for any better weapons. He'll be casting out his senses to see if Steve has any ( magnetic ) metal on him, though not attempting to move it.
"You came through the wall." Alright, Erik didn't see him actually do that, but he assumed that's what must have happened. That or some form of teleportation. Shaw's man Azazel could do it, although he tended to make a sort of sound, if Erik recalled correctly. "Was that intentional?"
no subject
Erik won't find much metal, a pair of keys, a pocket knife and the watch that Steve's got on. Unfortunately he was in his civilian clothes when he was brought here, so he doesn't have much in the way of weapons.
Steve glanced back at the wall that he'd stepped through and then back at the stranger. "Not exactly intentional, no."
He takes a few steps towards the cell door. "A minute ago I was in an old warehouse. I stepped through a door and found myself here." He pauses. "You wouldn't have any idea where here is, would you?"
no subject
"It's a prison. Does anything else matter?"
no subject
Still, he's not about to give up on getting information. Not when the man in front of him might know more than he's letting on.
"I'd like to know whose prisoner I'm supposed to be, for one."
Steve moves towards the cell door, not entirely convinced that the man doesn't intend on shutting it on him.
"I didn't catch your name."
no subject
"It's Erik. Erik Lensherr," He tells the other, "Until all of about ten minutes ago, I was in Westchester, New York. Unless my host truly does have a dungeon hidden in the second floor of his manor, I can't say I know who we're dealing with."
no subject
"I was in Washington, D.C." He reaches out a hand to push the door open, stepping after Erik. "So whoever has brought us here, must have a some impressive technology."
He only knows a few people with anything close to those capabilities. HYDRA is a very real possibility. But surely they would've kept him contained somewhere more secure than this if they'd brought him here.
"We should free the others." Because it was clear that there were others. Other cells. Other prisoners.
no subject
"There are some up ahead in the hall, but friend or foe? I couldn't say." He gestures to the light down the hall. "All I've found so far in the cells are remains, and there are some in this hall as well, with swords. Something took them down. I hope it wasn't because they were trying to free prisoners instead of clearing the way."
no subject
He's unable to do the same for the next bit, however, giving Erik a sideways glance. "There's strength in numbers. The more people we can free the more likely we are to get everyone out alive. There's no guarantee that we'll be able to return for them if we don't take them with us now."
no subject
But they would be free, or at least have a chance at it. Erik didn't have to be responsible for anyone's fate but his own, and Steve was right about strength in numbers. As long as it didn't slow him down finding his way back.
"Alright. You go that way," He indicates the way down the hall with the tip of his blade, toward the lights and the voices. From what he had seen, those people weren't much of a threat. If they turned out to be unfriendly, Steve could probably handle them. "I'll check this end of the hall again, in case anyone else has just shown up like you did."
no subject
It may not have the kind of enthusiasm that Steve would prefer, but at least Erik is cooperating for the moment. Steve isn't sure how much he can count on him in the future. He gives him a small nod and grabs a torch off the hallway wall.
"If any more show up, send them this way. We'll regroup and form a plan."
